Sara G. Zamora

Sara G. Zamora, 80, peacefully passed away Wednesday November 15, 2023, at DHR Health Hospice in Edinburg, with the love of family by her bedside. Her immense love of God reflected in the love she gave her children. It became embedded in all their hearts and radiates in the connection they share as a family. Together with her loving husband of over 56 years, they always encouraged their children to love unconditionally and take care of one another as they had always cared for them. Amel's love and dedication to her only grew stronger over the years. And as she battled dementia these last few years, that dedication became total and unwavering. Though her departure brings them great sorrow, her love and the memories of a life full of joy and celebration bring them even greater comfort.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Garcia and Natividad T. Benavidez; a granddaughter, Sara Elena Bernal; a brother Eliazar Garcia; and a sister Elia Morales.
Mrs. Zamora is survived by her husband, Amel R. Zamora of San Juan; eight children, Maria Anita (Andrew) Cabrera of Weslaco, Annette (JR) Rebollozo of San Juan, Linda (Cleofas) Bernal of Donna, Amelia Zamora of Colony, TX, Javier (Linda) Zamora of Edinburg, Minerva I. (Raymond) Zamora of McAllen, Imelda Zamora and Elsa (Catarino) Zamora, both of San Juan; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; her brother Tomas Garcia; and her sister Maria Ramona Vega.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm, with a 6 pm rosary Friday, November 17, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 11 am, today November 18, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
