ROBERT A. SKLOSS McCOOK/EDINBURG — Robert A. Skloss, 69, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at his residence in Edinburg. Mr. Skloss was born and raised in McCook. Robert took on the family tradition of farming. He was an innovative, progressive and imaginative farmer who at his peak farmed over 7000 acres in a single season. Robert grew many crops: sorghum, cotton, corn, potatoes, peanuts, carrots, peas, and guar. He enjoyed raising his favorite crop of all, watermelons, for the last 15 years of his farming career. Robert had many hobbies. Fishing, boating, flying, hunting and playing golf are just a few of the many things he enjoyed in life. These activities brought him together with many of his closest friends. Robert always enjoyed the time spent with his friends and family, sharing good jokes and retelling stories of adventures past. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Theresa Skloss; two sons, Timothy (Michelle) Skloss and Steven (Karen) Skloss; three granddaughters, Sara, Sidney and Sophia; a grandson, Austin; two sisters, Elizabeth and Patricia; four brothers, Andy, Ernie, Anthony and Ervin. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in McCook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert’s name to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 114 W. Fay St., Edinburg, TX 78539. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
