OSCAR SMITH JR. PHARR — Oscar Smith Jr., 71, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at McAllen Medical Center. Born in Georgetown, Texas, Mr. Smith had lived in Pharr most of his life and was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar Smith Sr.; his mother, Eudelia Smith; a brother, Albert Smith; and a sister, Yolanda Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Carmen Smith; children, Larry (Ana) Smith, Linda (Bobby) Flinn, both of Pharr, Daniel (Karen) Smith of Georgia, Rose (Jeff) Smith of Austin, Oscar (Lisa) Smith of Harlingen and Krystle (Emeterio) Cruz of Houston; stepchildren, Denise, Michelle, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Christina; grandchildren, Larry Jr., Jessica, Victoria, Tony, Dustin, Rebecca, Michelle, Patrick, Matthew, Carla, Grace, Marco; and numerous other grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Josie Parks of Nevada, Mary Helen Smith of Austin, Sandy Contreras of Florida; and two brothers, Jesse Smith of Blanco, Texas and David Smith, of New York. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today, November 20, 2013, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
