RUBEN F. SOLIS
PHARR - Ruben F. Solis, 91, changed his residence to heaven on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at McAllen Medical Center.
Mr. Solis graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1948, graduated from Pan American College, with a BBA in Education, attended St Mary's School of Law, received his Master's Degree in Education from Sam Houston State College and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He began his career in Education at Valley View School District as a Bus Driver, Custodian and Teacher, all at once. He spent 40+ years in Education primarily with PSJA ISD as a school principal.
He was a mentor and leader to many, inspiring many to reach higher seemingly unattainable goals. He strived to make sure everyone used their maximum potential. He was funny and articulate. As a principal he related to teachers, parents and students alike and touched the hearts and lives of everyone he encountered. No one left his presence without a smile or an all out chuckle. His joy was contagious as he lived out Nehemiah 8:10, "The joy of the Lord is your strength."
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Cristina Solis, and his brother, Robert Solis. Mr. Solis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emma P. Solis of Pharr; his son, Ruben F. Solis, Jr. (Bernadette) of Mission; two daughters, Ofelia S. (Roel) Guerra of El Sauz, Diana Lisa S. (Victor) Morales of Comfort, TX; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
