SAN JUAN – Maria Alicia “Licha” Suarez, 84, died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Mrs. Suarez was born in Alamo and lived in San Juan all of her life. She was employed by PSJA ISD Food Service Department for 21 years.
Alicia is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ernesto Suarez of San Juan; six daughters, Frances (Albert) Rodriguez, Linda (Jerry) Ortiz, both of Austin, Carol (Fred) Sanchez of San Antonio, Norma (Carlos) Herebia of Pharr, Sandy (Alfonso) Ortiz of McAllen, and Cory (Adan) Garcia of Austin; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Adolfo Zavala of Colorado Springs, CO, Ruben Zavala of Killeen, Roberto Zavala of Alamo, Alfredo Zavala of Elgin, IL; three sisters, Adela Gonzalez of Harlingen, Josie Mancha of League City, and Rita Allen of Sharyland.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, October 5, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
