ESTHER C. TIJERINA – Edinburg, TX February 13, 1926 – August 12, 2018
Esther C. Tijerina, age 92, entered eternal rest on August 12, 2018 at Amara Hospice.
Ester was a hard worker. She began working in the fields, packing shed and house cleaning at age 15 to help support her family. She liked to cook for her family, especially carne guisada, rice, beans, fideo, salsa and tamales. Esther liked to sew quilts for babies and children. Also, she enjoyed shopping and going to parties.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alfredo G. Tijerina.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Nora (J.D. +) Moreno, Ninfa (Alfredo) Moreno and Nelda (Luis) Gallegos. Mrs. Tijerina is survived by one sister: Leonor C. Tijerina, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, August 14, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
The family would like to thank the employees at Amara Hospice and Happy Valley Home Health. Also, thank you to family and friends who volunteered to help her through this difficult time.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
