Pedro Tijerina Jr.

PEDRO TIJERINA, JR. PHARR - Pedro Tijerina, Jr., 85, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Comfort House in McAllen. Mr. Tijerina was born in Edinburg and had lived in Pharr most of his life. Pedro was one of the original South Texas Cowboys born at Las Colimitas Ranch north of Edinburg. His door was always open to friends and family. Pedro is survived by his wife, Balbina Tijerina of Pharr; seven children Ricardo (Irma) Tijerina, Norma (Jerry) Salaiz, Nora (Ed) Cantu, all of Edinburg, Rogelio Tijerina of Chicago, IL, Noelia Tijerina and Hugo Gonzalez of McAllen, Pedro Tijerina, III of Pharr, Nydia (David) Darby of San Antonio, TX; 20 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and three siblings, Mary Delgado, Eloisa Escobar, and Joe Tijerina. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, June 6, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
