EDINBURG - Petra Davis Tijerina, 64, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Mexico, Mrs. Tijerina was formerly of Dallas and had lived in Edinburg for 32 years. She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Faysville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maximiliano and Altagracia Davis; a brother, Esteban Davis; two sisters, Socorro Garza and Amparo Ponce.
Mrs. Tijerina is survived by her husband, Manuel C. Tijerina of Edinburg; six children, Carla (Roberto) Draper of Edinburg, Maximiliano (Leticia) Tijerina of Salinas, California, Francisco (Rosalinda) Tijerina of Mission, Altagracia T. (Ernesto) Garcia, Raquel (Alfredo) Luna, and Maria Lourdes Tijerina, all of Edinburg; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six brothers, Guillermo Davis of Harlingen, Librado Davis, Guadalupe Davis, both of Houston, Texas, Rolando Davis, Max Davis, and Julio Davis, all of Dallas, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, December 17, 2011 and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2011, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Faysville . Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Tijerina and Max Tijerina. Pallbearers will be Michael Tijerina, Armando Hinojosa, Silvester Hinojosa, Orlando Hinojosa, Maxie Tijerina, and Johnny Luna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
