ROBERT TIJERINA
EDINBURG – Robert Tijerina, 53, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at his residence in Edinburg after a lengthy illness.
Robert was born on June 19, 1956, in Edinburg to Raul and Maria C. Tijerina. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in San Manuel. He was a retiree from the E.C. I. S. D. transportation department. He was an enthusiastic volunteer for various community organizations with a passion for mentoring the youth of Brewster School. Robert was a volunteer member of the Linn – San Manuel Fire Department. He gave his time and dedication to the Linn – San Manuel Community Improvement Committee of which he helped pioneer. Since his retirement, Robert greatly enjoyed photography focusing on nature and wildlife.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Isabel Armenta.
Mr. Tijerina is survived by his wife of 35 years, Priscilla G. Tijerina of Edinburg; two children, Robert Tijerina, Jr., of Alamo and Laura Sofia Tijerina of Edinburg; his parents, Raul and Maria Tijerina of Linn; five brothers, Raul Tijerina Jr., and Ramiro Tijerina both of Edinburg, Lalo Gonzalez of Redoak, Iowa, Rene Tijerina of Pharr and Rod Tijerina of Dallas, Texas; six sisters, Janie G. Navarro and Dora Gonzalez, both of McAllen, Irene Rios and Rose Gonzalez, both of Edinburg, Alma Rodriguez of Linn, Melissa Garcia of Faysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary today, May 12, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
