EDINBURG - Maria Nelia Tijerina, 53, died Monday, November 15, 2010, at Comfort House in McAllen.
Born in San Juan, Mrs. Tijerina had lived in Edinburg for 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Tomasita S. Martinez; a son-in-law, Clemente Padron; and a brother-in-law, Leonel Martin Tijerina.
Mrs. Tijerina is survived by her husband, Leonardo Tijerina; two children, Rebecca Padron, Leonardo Tijerina Jr., all of Edinburg; three grandchildren, Clemente Jr., Samantha Lee and Sophia Lynn Padron; her father, Vicente Martinez, of San Juan; two sisters, Rosalinda (Hilario) Tristan Jr., of Alamo, Norma (Federico) Salazar, of San Juan; two brothers, Ricardo (Maria) Martinez, of San Manuel, Rolando (Ofilia) Martinez, of Alamo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, November 17, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, November 18, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
