MRS. CAROLINA VELA TREVINO Mrs. Carolina Vela Trevino, 84, passed away on April 30, 2015, at Mission Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Trevino was born in Mission and lived there all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Carolina Vela and sister Lydia (Israel) Rodriguez. She is survived by her loving husband, Jesus Trevino; and seven siblings, Inocenia “Chencha” Vela, Ramiro & Maria (+Hermila) Vela, Reynaldo (Aurora) Vela, Raul (Lydia) Vela, Amparo (+Rafael) Barbosa, Roberto (Irma) Vela, Rogelio (Marianela) Vela. She is also survived by her three sister-in-laws, Amanda Trevino Gonzalez and Cruz Trevino Hernandez from Florida, and Margarita Trevino Cano from San Antonio. “Tia Caro”, as she was known by many, was a mother figure to her many nieces and nephews, a loving caring sister to her brothers and sisters, a great sister-in-law, and a loving devoted wife to her husband. She was the kind of person that always cared for everyone as though they were her own children. The memories of her are endless, with one of the fondest being inviting her family over for her famous tacos, homemade tortillas, and delicious sides. She had a heart of gold; always worried about each of us, and so full of love. She would often visit her family to give a loving hug accompanied by great conversation. She had a memory like no other; when asked about a past episode, person, or directions, she was able to give full details, leaving us in awe. She was kind-hearted, a peacemaker, and very spiritual, never having one bad thing to say about anyone. Caro was her sister Chencha’s best friend, they were inseparable; therefore, the phrase “Caro and Chencha” was a norm for all the family. She stood by her family through the ups and downs of life and was especially fond of her many nieces and nephews. She worked for Mission CISD for many years, serving as a migrant recruiter, loving her job immensely, taking such pride in her work until her retirement. She loved all, cared for all, and treated all with love and respect. The one thing that was instilled in each of us was the love of a wife for her husband. She stood by her husband, Chuy, the love of her life for 68 years. We, her family admired her endless love for her husband. Tia Caro was an angel on earth. She will always be remembered for her sparkling eyes and funny smirks that brought such laughter to our hearts. The Trevino and Vela families were blessed to have her in our lives. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Special thanks to her caregiver, Ms. Marlen Noyola, who gave of herself unselfishly, loving her like a mother, and going over her call of duty. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9pm., with a 7 pm. rosary today, May 3, 2015, at Flores Funeral Home, 219 S. Mayberry St. in Mission, Tx. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday , May 4, 2015, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
