JUAN HOMERO TREVINO

PHARR - Juan Homero Trevino, 78, died Monday, September 20, 2010, at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home.

Born in San Juan, Mr. Trevino had lived in Pharr most of his life and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Trevino.

Mr. Trevino is survived by his wife, Maria Luis "Mare" Trevino, of Pharr; five children, Marisela "Marci" (Mauro) Barreiro, of Palmhurst, Ellie (Bill) Ray, of San Antonio, Texas, Homer (Linda) Trevino Jr., of Ely, Iowa, Ricky (Vanassa) Trevino, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Roel Trevino, of Pharr; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Eloy Trevino, of Pharr; and a sister, Lupita Trevino, of Alvin, Texas.

Homero was a loving and caring husband, father and "Welo". He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed all sports, especially track and football. A favorite pastime was being involved with helping his kids and grandkids become better in their chosen sport or field of interest. A family man. Our hero.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, September 22, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, September 23, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
