Manuela Trevino

October 25, 1926 — June 6, 2013

MANUELA DE LA FUENTE-TREVINO SAN JUAN — Manuela De La Fuente-Trevino was born on October 25, 1926, in Rayones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and had lived in San Juan, Texas all of her adult life. She spent the month of March hospitalized at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, the month of April at Life Care Hospital of South Texas, the month of May at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Rehabilitation Center in McAllen and the past three weeks at her home in San Juan, Texas, and passed to be with the Lord on June 6, 2013. Thinking back to her time in the medical facilities, she demonstrated great strength and perseverance as she did throughout her life. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Jose Angel and Ramon De La Fuente. Manuela is lovingly survived by her husband Hector Trevino, married for 67 years; a brother, Daniel De La Fuente of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico; two sisters, Maria De Los Angeles De La Fuente of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and Ernestina De La Fuente of Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; three sons, Hector (Maria Ninfa) Trevino of Pharr, Joe G. (Anna) Trevino and Juan Gaspar Trevino, both of McAllen; four daughters, Maria Luisa (Rene Guerra) of Edinburg, Doricela (Jesse) Howell of San Antonio, Texas, Diana (Glenn) Conrad, and Rosalinda (Scott) Le Blanc both of San Antonio, Texas: 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Manuela spent most of her childhood in Rayones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She attended elementary school in her hometown and left school to help with the household and ranch after the passing of her dad Ramon. It was there that she developed the strength and fortitude that later she would use to overcome the hardships during her early life in the United States. She grew to have a love for farm animals. She had a love for garden flowers, the carnation and gardenia were her favorites. She took joy in wearing a carnation behind her ear and appreciated its scent and beauty. Our mom enjoyed singing and loved Mariachi music. She delighted in going to dances with her husband at the McAllen Civic Center. Our mom took pride in knowing that all her children were educated and had careers. God gave us Manuela to serve as an example of human strength and faith in our Lord. She served many years as a volunteer at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle-National Shrine where she assisted in the Sunday masses with the distribution of bulletins and the collections. She also assisted with special events when asked to serve. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. rosary Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. at St. Jude Thaddeus Church at 505 South Ironwood St., Pharr, Texas. Manuela will be honored by her grandsons as pallbearers. Jonathan Trevino, Mark Anthony Trevino, CJ Trevino, Lewis Howell, Bryan Howell, and Luis Rene Guerra will serve as pallbearers. D.J. Trevino, Daniel Le Blanc, and Nicholas will be honorary pallbearers. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
