MARIA LUISA “MARE” TREVINO
PHARR — Maria Luisa “Mare” Trevino, 81, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in McAllen, Mrs. Trevino had lived in Pharr most of her life and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was the life of the party. Mrs. Trevino never met a stranger, everyone was her friend. She was the biggest fan for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren cheering them on at every occasion. Mrs. Trevino was a marvelous cook; known for her traditional home cooked meals and was also constantly experimenting in exotic cuisine. She was an avid gardener. Everyone who knew her will miss her dearly. She was our inspiration.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Homero "Homer" Trevino, Sr.
Mrs. Trevino is survived by three sons, Juan Homero (Linda) Trevino, Jr., of Ely, Iowa,, Ricardo (Venessa) Trevino, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Roel Trevino, of Pharr; two daughters, Marisela "Marci" (Mauro) Barreiro, of Sharyland, Ellie (Bill) Ray, of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Emma Lozano and Lydia Fitzgerald, both of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary today, April 14, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
The family wishes to give thanks to the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home where she was crowned as Valentine Queen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
