Reyes Treviño Elizondo, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side.
He was born to Leonor Elizondo and Felipe Treviño 73 years ago in Rancho San Jose, Tamaulipas. He married the love of his life, Berta Treviño over 46 years ago. Although he and Berta never had any children, Reyes was a beloved uncle, father figure, and friend to numerous nieces and nephews. Reyes was a skilled groundskeeper. He retired after working at the University of Texas-Pan American for 19 years. He enjoyed baseball, rodeos, tending to his garden, going to the shooting range, listening to Norteño music, watching classic Mexican movies, and barbecuing for his family.
Reyes is preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Idolinda Silva, Juan Treviño, Raul Treviño and Arminda Garcia.
Mr. Treviño Elizondo is survived by his wife, Berta Treviño; two siblings, Irma Lazos (Guadalupe), Jesus Treviño (Bertha); numerous nieces and nephews; four in-laws, Leonel Olivarez, Ismelda Ortiz, Reyes Saenz (Gloria) and Hortencia Olivarez.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg
