JOHN VALDEZ McALLEN - John Valdez, 56, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at McAllen Medical Center. Mr. Valdez went to school in Chicago, Illinois and met the love of his life in Houston, Texas. They then pastored churches in Round Rock, Texas and Bossier City, Louisiana. John's passion was praising the Lord through worship. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Valdez. Mr. Valdez is survived by his wife, Helen Valdez, of McAllen; three children, Robert (Katherine) Munoz III, of Round Rock, Texas, John (Christy) Valdez, of Doyline, Louisiana, Noe (Jennifer) Valdez, of Bossier City, Louisiana; six grandchildren; his mother, Carmen Valdez, of Pharr; three brothers-in-law, Frank (Rosa) Magallan, of Pharr, Enrique (Carmen) Magallan, Noe (Aurora) Magallan, both of Edinburg; and four sisters-in-law, Esperanza (Roy) Ornelas, of Nicholls, Georgia, Sylvia Magallan, of Holland, Michigan, Rita (Juan) Palacios, of Edinburg, and Elizabeth (Frank) Nevares, of Austin, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, May 7, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
