DORIA E. VASQUEZ
McALLEN – Doria E. Vasquez, 57, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at University Transplant Hospital in San Antonio.
Born and raised in Edinburg, Texas, Doria was a proud “Bobcat” and stayed true to “Bobcat Pride” until the end. She was fortunate to travel and live in many places, yet always found her way home to the Rio Grande Valley.
Tita, as she was affectionately known as, fought a courageous battle to live for her family. Aside from taking care of her family, Doria was involved with community and church events. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter of the Americas of Edinburg and helped raise money for the American Cancer Society.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Keno Vasquez.
Doria is survived by her mother, Keta Canche Vasquez of McAllen; two sisters, Yliana (Larry) Esparza of McAllen, Michelle (Scott) Walters of Chicago; a brother, Judge Keno (Celina) Vasquez of Palmhurst; and her nephews and nieces, Christopher Esparza, Lauren Esparza, Anthony Esparza, Nicole Walters, Jaclyn Walters, Daniella Walters, Olivia Vasquez, Alejandro Vasquez and Andrea Vasquez.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, July 10, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
