ELISENA “Chena” VASQUEZ
SAN JUAN – Chena Vasquez, 87, went home to the Lord Tuesday, May 25, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.
During the 71 years they were married, Chena was an amazing woman who dedicated her life to her home, husband and children. Chena was a devout Catholic who served as a lector at the Basilica of San Juan for many years. Chena will be forever missed but we have comfort in knowing that she’s in Heaven with the “love of her life.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Luciano Hector Vasquez; her parents, Alonzo and Juanita Benavidez.
Mrs. Vasquez is survived by her eight children, Jose C. (Mary) Vasquez of San Juan, Nydia (Desi) Flores of Spring, TX, Rosalva V. Garcia of Dickinson, TX, Arturo (+Marta) Vasquez of Brazoria, TX, Hector Javier (Mari) Vasquez of West Columbia, TX, Melba (Moises) Martinez, Oscar (Mary) Vasquez, both of San Juan, and Irene (Pablo) Rivera of Burnet, TX; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
