MARIA CRUZ R. VASQUEZ
PHARR - Maria Cruz R. Vasquez, 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. She was surrounded by her family as she passed on to her journey to eternal life.
Mrs. Vasquez was born in Alamo and lived in Pharr since 1967.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Concepcion G. Vasquez; two sons-in-law, Jose Arturo Barbosa Sr. and Julian Olivarez Sr.; and two grandsons, Rodolfo "Rudy" Vasquez Jr. and Juan Manuel "Johnny" Vasquez Jr.
Mrs. Vasquez is survived by nine sons, Arturo (Estella) Vasquez, Juan Manuel (Rebecca) Vasquez, Rodolfo (Martha) Vasquez, Jose Antonio (San Juana) Vasquez, Oscar Vasquez, Victor Vidal Vasquez, Hector (Adriana) Vasquez, all of Pharr, Conce (Isabel) Vasquez, of Houston, Texas and Luis Alonso (Hortencia) Vasquez of McAllen; three daughters, Rosario V. Olivarez, Marta Noelia Vasquez, both of Pharr, Petra Barbosa of McAllen; 37 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was a bountiful person, full of hope and faith. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by everyone's heart she touched.
A rosary was held Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm, today, July 15, 2010 at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
