Rosa Rosas Vasquez, 94, went home to our Lord in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg, TX.
From her birth on September 3, 1924 in San Antonio, TX to her death, she filled our lives with a boundless spirit and unconditional love. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and all were blessed to have this time with her. Rosa was a longtime resident of Edinburg. She dedicated her time, duties, and responsibilities to her family, as she was employed with the Edinburg School District and food services for 14 years, followed by working at Edinburg Hospital for another 18 years. After her retirement, she became a partner with H-E-B.
Rosa is preceded in death by her soulmate, Arturo R. Vasquez. Our peace comes from knowing that at long last, they are reunited in God’s grace because at the end, his spirit was with her. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:3
She is survived by her three sons, Roberto (Norma) Vasquez of Dripping Springs, TX, Jose Arturo (Mary Jane) Vasquez, and Homer (Alice) Vasquez, both of Edinburg, TX; her eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Madeline Serna of San Antonio, TX.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7.pm. today, Friday, March 1, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Home located at 208 E. Canton Road in Edinburg. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 501 E. Kuhn Street in Edinburg, TX.
