JUAN JOSE “J.J.” VELA, JR. EDINBURG – Juan Jose “J.J.” Vela Jr., 42, died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Born in Edinburg, Mr. Vela had lived there all of his life. He was very close to his family and loved to spend quality time with them. Mr. Vela had a passion for music and playing the drums. He was the owner of Grupo X-ito. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Jose Vela Sr.; a brother, Oscar Rene Vela; his paternal grandmother, Eutemia Vela; and his maternal grandparents, Ricardo and Evangelina Guzman. Mr. Vela is survived by his wife, Patricia Bocanegra Vela; five children, Charisma (Hector) Camacho, Serenity (Eduardo) Aranda, Johnpaul Vela, Jasmin Vela, John Jacob Vela, all of Edinburg; two step-children, Kassandra (Jesse) Aguilera of Pharr, and Kristen (Eduardo) Garcia of Edinburg; five grandchildren, Edgar Santana, Madellyn Camacho, Sofia Aranda, Isabella Aguilera, Andrew Garcia; his mother, Anna Guzman Vela of Edinburg; a sister, Cynthia Vela (Adrian) Cuevas of Edinburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
