ESTEBAN VELASQUEZ
SAN JUAN – Esteban Velasquez, 74, died Monday, August 17, 2009, in Edinburg.
Mr. Velasquez was born in Kingsbury, Texas and had lived in San Juan since 1995. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Getrudes and Trinidad Velasquez.
Mr. Velasquez is survived by five children, Elizabeth (Pedro†) Valdez, Dolores (Rogelio) Loera, both of McAllen, Esteban Velasquez Jr., of DeSoto, Texas, Maricela Velasquez, of Edinburg, Susana (Jorge) Garcia, of Mission; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, August 19, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, August 20, 2009, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
