FRANCISCO VENTURA

SAN JUAN - Francisco Ventura, 90, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen.

Born in Pharr, Mr. Ventura had lived in San Juan for 25 years and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Concepcion Ventura; a daughter, Maria Alicia Ventura; his parents, Jose and Josefa Ventura; a brother, Erasmo Ventura; and three sisters, Maria Limas, Paula Ibarra and Josefina Santillana.

Mr. Ventura is survived by three children, Gloria (Robert) Saenz, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ester (Cipriano) Cardenas, of Brownsville, Jesse (Leticia) Ventura, of McAllen; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ramona Loera and Adelfa Jimenez, both of California.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, March 15, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
