Edcouch – Vicenta Vargas Balderas, 97, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her residence in Edcouch. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Balderas; parents, Natividad Vargas and Petra Aguilar; five siblings, Carlota Lawrence, Procopio Balderas, Petra Balderas, Vicenta Balderas, and Guadalupe Balderas. 

Mrs. Balderas is survived by her seven children, Benita (+David) Culberson, Tana (+Baldo) Villarreal, Maria Luisa Villarreal, Gustavo Balderas, Juana Delia (Hector) Ramirez Leal, Hermelinda (Gilberto) Guzman, Juan Carlos Balderas; 27 grandchildren; 45+ great-grandchildren; 20+ great-great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
