ROBERTO F. VILLA
SAN JUAN — Roberto F. Villa, 65, died Saturday, November 26, 2011, at his residence in San Juan.
Mr. Villa was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during Vietnam from 1966 - 1967 and received the Combat Infantryman Badge. He attended the University of Oregon and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Curriculum and Instruction. Mr. Villa was an English major with a minor in History and taught at P-SJ-A ISD for 26 years until his retirement in 2002. He also played guitar with the choir at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish and at San Juan Nursing Home for 10 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Enriqueta Villa; a sister, Maria Inez Villa; and a brother, Andres Villa.
Mr. Villa is survived by his wife, Dora Alicia Villa; three daughters, Sally (LeRoy) Garza, Magdalena Gouveia Villa, Teresa Picard; numerous grandchildren; five sisters, Paz Garcia, Maria de los Angeles Guerrero, Margarita Villa, Maria Inez Villa, Maria del Rosario Villa, all of Oregon; and a brother, Jose Simon Villa, of Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, November 29, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Military honors will be conducted by Post 8788 of McAllen.
Pallbearers will be Baldemar Moroles, Guadalupe Barba, LeRoy Garza, Roberto F. Loredo, Ruben Martinez Jr. and Felix Gomez Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be LeRoy Garza Jr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
