SERVANDO "SERVY" G. VILLAGOMEZ
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
ALAMO - Servando "Servy" G. Villagomez, 62, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Mr. Villagomez was born in Alamo and had lived there all of his life. He was a veteran of the US Army. Servy was a true soldier of God and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Bertha Villagomez; a sister, Amada Villagomez-Chavez; and a nephew, Richard Chavez III.
Mr. Villagomez is survived by his wife, Ramona Gonzalez Villagomez,of Alamo; five siblings, Dolores (Jose) Moreno, Tomas (Cuquie) Villagomez, both of Alamo, Guadalupe (Margie) Villagomez of San Juan, Rodolfo (Hilda) Villagomez, of San Antonio, Texas, Myra (Reyes) Nava of Pharr; a brother-in-law, Ricardo (Irma) Chavez, Sr. of Alamo; numerous nieces and nephews.
As a family we wish to express our most sincere gratitude to Servy's wife, Ramona, for her unconditional and unlimited love for our brother. She gave him the best care a wife could possibly give.
Our love and thanks to his dedicated caregiver and friend, Laura Gonzalez. We also wish to thank Healthcare Unlimited, Jays Pharmacy, Lee's Pharmacy and the many doctors who cared for Servy. Special thanks to our family and friends for the support and prayers they have offered during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, April 17, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Jaime Balderas, AAFC Assistant Pastor. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr. Pallbearers will be Richard Chavez, Jr., Tomas Villagomez, III, Eddie Villagomez, Guadalupe Villagomez, Jr., Aaron Villagomez and Robert Chavez.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
