Amalia "Molly" Villarreal

Amalia “Molly” Villarreal, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at San Juan Nursing Home, surrounded by friends and family.
A lifelong resident of Alamo, Molly raised her three children as a single mom. She was the owner of Jimmie’s Goldmine Drive-In in Alamo for 16 years where many, many hamburgers were enjoyed by Alamo patrons, as well as area residents, before there was a Whataburger.
Amalia joined her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Robert) Moreno; her sister, Albesa (Serafin+) Gomez; and three brothers, former Alamo mayor, Rodolfo “Rudy” (Oralia+) Villarreal, Roberto and Rene Villarreal; as well as her parents, Macario and Inez Villarreal.
Molly leaves behind two children, Jesse (Irene) Espinoza, Jr. of Pflugerville, Texas and Olivia (Gilbert+) Ramirez of Pharr, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael and Aaron Espinoza, Lisa Owen, Robin Park, Rebecca “Becky” Cortez, Robert “Bobby” Moreno, and Jesse Moreno; as well as 12 great grandchildren; her sister, Alicia (Albino+) Rodriguez of Kress, Texas; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Molly lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease and heart disease. The family would like to thank Dr. Yuri Bermudez and Dr. Tommy Yee, as well as the staff at San Juan Nursing Home for taking such good care of her.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Monday, January 28, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
