APOLINAR G. VILLARREAL
PHARR - Apolinar G. Villarreal, 92, died Monday, November 19, 2018, at Legend Transitional Care Center in McAllen.
Born in McAllen, he had lived in Pharr since 1960. Growing up he worked at a cotton gin with his family and was then employed by Goodyear for 35 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Villarreal and Maria Gil Villarreal; seven siblings, Fidel, Tomas, Juan Jr., Jose Villarreal, Rosa Lopez, Lucia Lopez, Concepcion Diaz; and a great-grandson, Ethan Bair Calzada.
Mr. Villarreal is survived by his wife of 73 years, Margarita G. Villarreal; his daughter, Alicia Villarreal Calzada; five grandchildren, Marcos (Jovita), Christopher (Victoria), Emilio (Liana), Monique, and Isaiah (Jennifer) Calzada; nine great-grandchildren; five siblings, Hortencia Abrego, Esperanza Munoz, Delfina Acevedo, Jesus "Chuy" Villarreal, and Felix Villarreal.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, November 21, 2018, and from 1 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, November 23, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
