JOVITA LANE VILLARREAL
SAN MANUEL/RED GATE – Jovita Lane Villarreal, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
Born June 15, 1923 in Edinburg, Mrs. Villarreal had lived in San Manuel/Red Gate area all of her life and served as postmaster of the Linn Post Office, until her retirement in 1970.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Tomas Villarreal Sr.; and her parents, Jack and Estella Lane.
Mrs. Villarreal is survived by daughter, Maria Teresa "Tita" (Tony) Flores of Houston, Texas; three sons, Tomas (Marielos) Villarreal Jr. of Houston, Texas, Ruben Ricardo (Olivia) Villarreal, of Austin, Texas, C.L. (Terri) Villarreal, of Edinburg; sister, Estella L. Trevino, of Edinburg; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 p.m. rosary today, January 21, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
