SAN JUAN – Maria Belia Villarreal, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 1, 2018, at McAllen Medical Center.
Maria was born in Corpus Christi and lived in San Juan all of her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who had strong faith in God. Maria enjoyed visiting nursing homes where she would spend time praying with the residents.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar L. Villarreal; seven brothers, and two sisters.
Maria is survived by three sons, Oscar Villarreal Jr., Ricardo (Nora) Villarreal, Roberto Villarreal; a daughter, Sandy V. (David) Lerma; eight grandchildren, David (Janet) Lerma, Randy Lerma, Ricardo Villarreal, Jr., Tex Villarreal, Sarai Villarreal, Ruby (Chris) Hernandez, Albert (Robin) Desiga; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ernesto Borrego, Francisco Borrego, Jr.; and three sisters, Adela Borrego Rodriguez, Olivia Borrego Amaya, and Lupita Borrego Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Monday, September 3, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Pallbearers will be David Lerma, Jr., Randy Lerma, Ricardo Villarreal, Jr., Tex Villarreal, Chris Hernandez, and Albert Desiga.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
