MCALLEN - Raquel Villarreal, 92, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at McAllen Medical Center.
Raquel was a housewife who, for 32 years, volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center, where her passion was crafting and ceramics. The family is honored to have had a faithful woman of God for a mother. Her beautiful smile and wit will be missed at the family gatherings which she dearly enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eleno Villarreal.
Mrs. Villarreal is survived by a son, Ruben Villarreal; three daughters, Noemi (†Daniel) Castaneda, Diana Villarreal (Ruben) Cavazos, Rachel Villarreal, all of McAllen; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Blanca De Ochoa, her good friend and caregiver, for the care given to Raquel.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Iglesia Bautista Tierra Prometida in McAllen. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
