It is with great sadness, pain and grief that we announce the passing of our dear son. Vincent Michael Cantu, 40, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was a talented musician, a kind, caring and loving soul who will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
In his own words taken from the lyrics of one of his songs, "Betting Sevens" he puts it this way:
"The taking of a Life is just Too sad to see,
So I drift into subconscious thoughts of parallel dilemmas.
One million points of light will end as moments
That just passed like a wave through me.
And the Time's too short in this game of life when we're betting sevens
So I take the road less traveled only to discover the truth I cannot bear to see.
With a Dangerous fight to the death it seems we're just betting sevens."
He is preceded in death by his brother, Johnathan Efrain Cantu; maternal-grandparents, Efrain and Isabel Flores; paternal-grandparents, Guillermo and Maria Cantu.
Vincent Michael is survived by his parents, Vincent Cantu and Nilda Flores Cantu; sisters, Stephanie Lorraine Cantu, Christina Denise Cantu; aunts, uncles; and longtime companion and partner, Alyssa Ausborn.
Vincent Michael loved his family and music most in this world. He believed in the innate goodness of man and saw the good in all people. He impacted many lives with who he was as a person. The world will not be the same without him. Vincent Michael leaves behind a host of grieving family members, friends, and other loved ones. There will be a private, family only, viewing this Thursday. In our great grief we have decided at this time not to have a public service. We will hold a Celebration of Life Service at his home church of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg on November 5, 2024 (his birthday) at 10 a.m. with a lunch to follow. All whose lives he touched are welcome to come and celebrate him. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the United Methodist Campus Ministry of the Rio Grande Valley. Checks can be mailed to UMCM of the RGV, 123 N. Sugar Rd., Edinburg, TX 78541.
"The lone, wild bird in lofty flight, is still with you, nor leaves your sight.
And I am yours! I rest in you, Great Spirit, come, rest in me, too."
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
