McALLEN - Maria De La Luz Zamora, 84, went to be the Lord Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Born July 1, 1925 in General Bravo N.L., Mexico, Mrs. Zamora had lived in McAllen most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hilario Zamora.
Mrs. Zamora is survived by a daughter, Allie Zamora; a sister, Elvira (Jose) Garza, both of McAllen; a brother, Felipe Hernandez of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be cremated and a celebration of life mass will be held at 10 a.m. on today, September 9, 2009 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen.
Special thanks to her provider, Rosie Avila, and to Sylvia Rodriguez from the Senior Companion Program, to IPH Hospice, Comfort House staff and to friends who helped during our difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Comfort House, 617 Dallas, McAllen, Texas 78501.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
