JAIME J. "BINO" ZAPATA

EDINBURG – Jaime J. "Bino" Zapata, 35, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his family in Edinburg.

Born in Edinburg, Mr. Zapata had lived there all of his life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served as a Lieutenant with the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department and was a firefighter with Mission Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Antonio and Nicolasa Rangel; and his paternal grandfather, Rogerio Zapata.

Mr. Zapata is survived by his wife, Janie Zapata; five children, Debra Saldana, Dalayna Saldana, Kylea Rae Zapata, Kalea Sue Zapata, Bo Cambel Zapata; his parents, Romeo and Carmen Zapata all of Edinburg; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Truszkowski of Washington, DC.; and his paternal grandmother, Eustolia Zapata of Edinburg.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg, and from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary today, December 19, 2010. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Pallbearers will be Geno Rivera, Joey Ramirez, Felix Salazar, Kevin Pena, Ruby Jimenez, Jr. and Steve Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Mission and Edinburg firefighters.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
