PHARR – Virgilio Zuniga, 100, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his residence. Born in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Mr. Zuniga lived in Pharr all of his life. He is preceded in death by his wife, Exiquia Zuniga; parents, Vitalio and Paulita Zuniga; four brothers, Albino Zuniga, Severo Zuniga, Guadalupe Zuniga and Manuel Zuniga; three sisters, Jovita Palacios, Lazara Guajardo and Maria De Jesus Zuniga. Virgilio is survived by his seven children, Gloria Montalvo, of Pharr, Maria De Jesus (Jesus) Polanco, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Idolina (Benito) Peña, of Pharr, Virgilio (Guadalupe) Zuniga of San Juan, Nora Alicia (Leandro) Galvan Jr., of Pharr, Hector (Maggie De Leon) Zuniga, of Pharr and Javier Zuniga (Maggie Mckinnon) of San Juan; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. talk today, May 10, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Graveside service will be held at a later date. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
